ADAM ESPELEE COHEN  

Adam was born in 1975 and grew up in Houston, Texas.  He grew up in a family that encouraged exploration, including adventures into the bayous and ditches in his neighborhood.  He developed a strong interest in aquaria, horticulture, and biology in general.  During high school he took up drawing and photography through courses offered at his school.  After graduation from Westbury High School in 1993, he moved to Austin where he put his artistic endeavors aside and began to study biology at the University of Texas at Austin (UT).  Adam graduated with a BS in Evolution Ecology and Conservation from UT in 1997 and continued on to get his Masters Degree.  Adam earned a Masters degree in Biology studying Cichlid fishes in Cuatro Cienegas, Mexico, under the mentorship of Dr. Dean HendricksonAdam currently works at the Texas Memorial Museum in Austin studying Texas Fishes.

Adam has two brothers who also live and work in Austin.  His elder brother, Andrew, is a school teacher and coach, and his younger brother, Ethan, is a computer hardware designer.  Andrew also handles most of the business and marketing affairs for Silverfish Art.  Adam's father, David Cohen, is a financial planner and his mother, Joan Engebretson, is a professor of Public Health in Houston.  Adam's wife, Cate Bergman, is a botanist.
